Stockholm Maritime Hotel

Crow Girl

The Stockholm Maritime Hotel is a temporary refuge and point of transition for Madeleine Silfverberg: she prepares there for a consequential meeting, then leaves before the police can speak with her. The hotel’s location near Slussen and its staff become relevant when investigators try to establish who she is and where she has gone.

Setting and Visit

While staying at the Stockholm Maritime Hotel in Södermalm, Madeleine Silfverberg spends time in the bathroom making herself presentable. In a few hours, she intends to meet the woman who once called herself her mother, and she wants to look as beautiful as possible. She takes eyeliner from her bag and applies light make-up, making the hotel room a private space of preparation before the encounter.

The scene connects the practical act of getting ready with the emotional weight of Madeleine’s past. Her thoughts turn to the years and circumstances separating who she once was from who she is now, and to the imagined possibility that other versions of herself exist in parallel worlds. The hotel is therefore more than a place to sleep: it briefly holds Madeleine between those identities and the meeting ahead.

Departure and Police Inquiry

By the time police discuss the hotel, Madeleine has checked out earlier that day. Investigators have accounted for six of seven people they are tracing; the remaining woman is identified as Madeleine Duchamp, who booked in using a French driving licence. The conversation places her departure from the Stockholm Maritime Hotel, near Slussen, at the center of the search for her.

Jeanette Kihlberg directs Jens Hurtig to go to the hotel, speak with the staff, and prioritize obtaining a description. The request makes the hotel a potential source of identifying information: Madeleine has left, but the people and records associated with her stay may help the investigators follow her. The episode sets her careful preparation for a personal meeting against the police effort to recover her trail.
